Where Heritage Meets Serenity in Every Shade of Blue
A 120-year-old Dutch colonial bungalow in Talpe, Unawatuna — five bedrooms, a private pool, and a lush garden, for up to 8 guests.

About the Villa
Ayubowan to timeless style. The Blues Villa is an exclusive retreat that epitomises the elegance and charm of Sri Lanka's colonial heritage, seamlessly combined with modern luxury. It is not just a place to stay, but a journey back in time to the days of Dutch colonial rule.
Constructed over 120 years ago during the Dutch colonial era, the villa was originally a grand residence for Dutch officials. Its thick walls, high ceilings, expansive verandas, Dutch gables, wooden beams, arched doorways, intricate jackwood woodwork and antique furnishings are characteristic of Dutch colonial architecture — meticulously preserved and restored, with modern comforts added.
What began as a retirement plan for founder Janaka Masakkara — after a career in the Sri Lanka Army and then in the private sector, culminating at MAS Intimates — became a family venture when he purchased the colonial-style house in Galle in 2018. Opened in 2019 after a passionate renovation, the old classical-era home now stands adorned with luxury interior and style, filled with brightness, warmth and birdsong, with the occasional visit from peacocks in the vicinity.

We highly recommend this place if you want a quiet place in the Unawatuna - Galle region. The house is very clean, superb architecture, the garden is amazing and ideal if you have kids as they have plenty of space to run around. The rooms are big, with good AC and nice spacious bathrooms. The pool was amazing, clean and with perfect temperature. The entire premises were clean and very well maintained. But above all, we highly recommend Nishani, the lady in the house who can cook for you. She prepared for us delicious breakfasts and amazing curries. There is nothing negative I could write about this place - we had 5 amazing days and we would definitely return.

Great stay; would highly recommend. Accommodation was very clean. The three double bedrooms were spacious and very comfortable. We had a meal cooked for us on the first night of traditional Sri Lankan food that was good. Location: 5 mins walk from an incredible beach. Good restaurants in walking distance (Persian BBQ restaurant in particular). Host: quick, and highly responsive. Very helpful.

We really enjoyed staying here. The house is beautiful, very clean, spacious and well-maintained, the kitchen is equipped with everything. The pool is a show! Staying here was like taking a dip in the past, it felt like it was in a movie. The staff was very discreet and helpful. The price is worth the place. Absolutely recommended!
