The Villa
Ishq Talpe is a family-owned, bespoke luxury villa on the quiet coastline of Talpe. Its name comes from the Arabic word for love and passion. First built in the 1990s as one of the island's first luxury villas — designed by renowned architect, the late Bruce Fell-Smith — it was later extensively renovated and upgraded under award-winning architect Philip Weeraratne. Today it marries clean design with oceanic hues, combining the comforts of a boutique hotel with the privacy and exclusivity of a private villa.
Expect Dutch colonial heritage characteristics, high ceilings, airy suites and common areas, large king-sized beds, and low-slung chairs by the courtyard pool. The villa sits absolute beachfront with an active coral reef that can be explored in season; turtles can be spotted first thing in the morning and evening. Between November and April, natural rock pools for swimming are a short walk up or down the beach. The best swimmable beach nearby is Wijaya Beach, a 4-minute drive away.
Meals feature Sri Lankan and international cuisine highlighting fresh seafood and locally grown produce, served by a dedicated team of staff. A well-stocked games and movie room is a hangout for families and children.

Five bedrooms and five bathrooms — every room en-suite — sleeping up to 14 guests across five king beds and four single beds. Interiors are ocean-inspired, in blue, white, beige and gold.

Every bedroom opens to a garden terrace, with wooden flooring and panels, twin basins, and an outdoor tropical rain shower. Four of the five bedrooms are on the ground floor.
